Weekend Mass times: Vigil Mass Saturdays 5.30 p.m. and Sunday Mass at 9.30 a.m.

How to reach the Church: We are on the A673 Chorley to Horwich/Bolton road, about 100
yards east of the traffic lights in upper Adlington. We are close to the Rivington and
Anglezarke reservoirs, and there are many pleasant walks in this parish and district, at
the western edge of the West Pennine Moors. The only problem is the Lancashire weather!

Coming from MANCHESTER direction: Leave the M61 at junction 6 (Reebok Stadium)
taking the left-most filter lane and following the signs for A6 Chorley i.e. right at the second
roundabout as the short stretch of dual carriageway ends. Continue along the A6
which bypasses Blackrod village, then descends into Adlington (first 30 mph signs). At
the second mini-roundabout turn right, go over the railway bridge and up Railway Road to
the traffic lights at the top. Turn right again, and the church is 100 metres along on the left,
after the Co-op. The presbytery is on the right, directly opposite the Co-op car park.

Coming from LIVERPOOL OR BIRMINGHAM direction via M58 or M62 and the M6 northbound.
Come off at Junction 27 for Standish, take the right exit, and after a short stretch of dual
carriageway turn left at the T-junction (A5209). When you reach the traffic lights in the centre
of Standish, get into the left hand lane in order to go straight ahead (slightly to the right, in fact)
ACROSS the A49. DO NOT FOLLOW THE A49 SIGN FOR CHORLEY. DO NOT TURN LEFT!
You should now be on the B5239 which passes St Wilfrid's C/E Church, Standish, and runs
down beneath the west coast main line railway bridge to a mini-roundabout with the A5106
Wigan to Chorley road.
Turn left, and drive for about 3 miles through open country, enjoying the
views of Winter Hill. When you reach the traffic lights at the T-junction with the A6, turn right
for Bolton, and after 400 metres filter left on the A673 for Horwich and Bolton. 1.5 km further
you reach the traffic lights in upper Adlington. Continue straight on, and the Church is
100 metres beyond on the left, after the Coop.

Coming from PRESTON / EAST LANCASHIRE direction: Take the M61 southbound from
either the M6 or the M55. Leave the motorway at Junction 8 (Chorley north), by the Mormon
spire. Take the right exit and go left at the next two roundabouts, follow the A6 into Chorley
and southwards towards Manchester. You will now experience Chorley's rash of
mini-roundabouts: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine (we think the road planner
kept leaving his coffee cup on the map). Keep straight on and you will eventually escape the
gyratory giddiness. Shoot away down the A6, passing the A5106 to Wigan, and at Heath
Charnock filter left onto the A673, and into upper Adlington. The church is 100 metres beyond
the traffic lights on the left.

Coming from BOLTON: follow either Chorley New Road or Chorley Old Road, through Horwich
and beyond on the A673. After you pass Rivington lower reservoir, and go under the M61 bridge,
the Church is about 1 km further on your right, just after the Adlington sign, and before you
reach the traffic lights.

Coming from WIGAN:  Standish side: either via A49 and A5106 (see under Liverpool). Or from
the east side of Wigan, take the B5238 towards Aspull and Horwich. At the double roundabout
in the centre of Aspull turn left (Standish direction) along the B5239. 0.5 km after Haigh village,
the main road turns sharp left, but you turn right along a side road for Blackrod instead.
In Blackrod village turn left at the T-junction, go down the hill and join the A6. Lower Adlington
is 1 km further. Turn right at the second mini-roundabout, right at the lights, and the church
is 100m. further along on the left.
