Weekend Masses: Saturday 5.30 pm and Sunday 9.30 am.
Daily Mass Tues, Thurs, Fri is usually at 9 am, unless otherwise notified. Mon and Sat at 09.00 a Liturgy of the Word with Holy Communion. Except for Wednesdays, Morning Prayer is recited each weekday at 8.45 am, and the Rosary is recited daily after Mass.
Wednesdays Mass is at 9.30 am, preceded by Morning Prayer at 08.50 and Rosary at 09.15.
On Wednesdays the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for adoration and prayer from after morning Mass c. 10 am until 4.30 pm. Evening prayer at 4.20 pm.
Confessions Sat. 5.00 pm or on request. Sacrament of the Sick on request.
Baptisms and Weddings by appointment. To arrange a baptism please collect the application forms and a baptism booklet from the priest after Saturday evening or Sunday Mass. For weddings, please see the priest after one of the weekend Masses to arrange a time for an interview.
St Joseph's Anderton (Adlington) is a church of the Chorley Deanery. We are located on the A673 Chorley to Bolton road, just east of the traffic lights in the centre of upper Adlington.
Our parish population is approx. 1500.

Little Church (Children's Liturgy) during 9.30 am Mass each Sunday during school terms
The Year 3 children can prepare for their First Holy Communion
by attending Holy Mass regularly and through the preparation lessons at Little Church on alternate Sundays, during the 9.30 am Mass.
Cubs meet on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm in the Old School Hall.
Brownies meet on Wednesdays 6.30 pm in the Old School Hall
Beavers meet at 6.00 pm on Fridays in the Old School Hall.
Anderton Day Nursery (proprietors Mrs W Collinson and Mrs T Gilbertson) operate in the Old School building Mondays to Fridays, 7.30 am - 6 pm.

Mr Billy Higgins runs a karate club in the Old School Hall on Wednesdays 5.30 - 6.30 pm.
The old school hall can be hired at very reasonable cost on weekday evening meetings, and at weekends, for birthday parties, music practices, neighbourhood watch etc.
Extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist help in taking Holy Communion to the sick on Sundays after Mass and on Wednesdays.
The Parish Centre offers refreshments, snooker, pool, darts and bingo. There is also a Bowling Green and bowling club. the Club Steward is Mr Peter Hopkinson tel: 480423. It is possible to book the Club facilities for outside functions on occasion e.g. receptions after baptisms or funerals etc. The meeting room can also be booked for evening meetings when not required - usually Tuesdays and Thursdays are free.
There is a Repository in Church, open at weekends after Mass, which has supplies of prayer books, bibles, leaflets, statues, rosaries etc. It also has videos and tape cassettes for loan.
On 18th February 2001 the Most Rev. Patrick Kelly Archbishop of Liverpool consecrated the new altar and the church. First class relics of St John Southworth and St Francis of Assisi were placed beneath the altar, with third class relics of St Edmund Arrowsmith. St Martin de Porres and St Anthony of Padua.
On 20th March 2001, Chorley Civic Society awarded the Parish a Commendation 2000 for the new church access ramp for the disabled and the improvement works on the bowling green.
Parish Cemetery grave plots with right of burial are still available to parishioners only in the newer section, to the left of the path going towards school, The cost is now £650, and the graves will hold two, possibly three, coffins. Cremated remains can be buried only in family graves.
There are regular entertainments and concerts on alternate Saturday evenings in the Parish Centre.
Work for the re-tarmacking of the car park was completed on Fri 31st October 2003. A new soundproofed and movable screen has been erected in the Parish Centre clubroom in order to allow one end to be used separately for group meetings and hirings, while the regular members and games tables can still be used in the rest.
The grouping of Anderton St Joseph's with Sacred Heart Chorley, St Oswald's Coppull and St Mary's Chorley is served by Fr Marsden, Fr Ball and Fr Mayne within the Chorley Pastoral Area.
All ten parishes in the Deanery have a total nominal allocation of four/five priests within five years
What is more important is the need to live a good Christian life, attend Mass as frequently as possible and to pray for vocations. Then Almighty God will grant us the priests we need.
